The Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) nursing program prepares you to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination for the Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN). The four-semester curriculum emphasizes the application of the nursing core competencies: professional behavior, communication, assessment, clinical decision making, caring intervention, teaching and learning, collaboration, and managing care of a diverse client population.
Clinical activities are provided in campus classrooms, area hospitals, extended care facilities, and other health and community agencies. While the majority of the clinical experiences are located within the college's 11-county service area, additional travel is sometimes required. Students completing this program will be awarded an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree. Articulation with a baccalaureate program of study is supported.
Applicants are ranked in numerical order on a selection list with the highest scores selected to fill the class. Students are notified of their fall semester admission status in April via their Motlow email account. Selection for admission to the Nursing Program is based upon a point system, with the highest points possible being 600 plus eligible applicants earning up to 100 quality points.
Students admitted to the Nursing Program are required to attend a Nursing Program Orientation Session.

become a Registered Nurse.

Motlow offers three different options for obtaining your A.A.S in Nursing. The traditional 2-year track, the LPN to RN Bridge for those with an LPN license, and the Paramedic-to-RN Bridge for those with a Paramedic license.

*Students that graduated from a TCAT 3 years or less prior to the summer of entry and passed their LPN Exit Exam, may substitute their exit exam score for their HESI Entrance Exam. Students will need to submit official TCAT transcripts to the Nursing Department as well as have official test transcripts sent to the department.

Graduates are prepared to perform the graduate core competencies for Associate Degree nurses in the delivery of care. Graduates meet or exceed the state and national mean score on the NCLEX-RN. Graduates contribute to the supply of registered nurses in Motlow State’s eleven county service area.

Through the Motlow College Foundation our nursing program provides financial assistance to nursing students through a variety of scholarships. Thanks to the generosity of philanthropists throughout southern middle Tennessee, nursing students have scholarship options.
Motlow's single scholarship application system allows nursing students to apply for all nursing scholarships at one time.
