HESI Exams

Each Motlow nursing applicant takes a Health Education Systems (HESI) exam. Two-year program applicants take the admission exam. LPN to RN Bridge applicants take the fundamental exam.

Deadline

The deadline for submitting the best HESI A2 Entrance Exam summary or HESI Fundamental Exam summary for candidates with LPN Licensure to the Nursing Department is January 31 at 4:30 p.m. CST.

HESI A2 Admission Exam

The entrance examination for the Paramedic to RN Bridge Motlow Nursing Program is the Admission Assessment by Health Education Systems (HESI). The test covers math, reading comprehension, vocabulary and general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, learning style and personality profile assessments. Candidates are required to score 85% on the Admission Assessment to be considered for the two-year nursing program. The entrance examination is offered once-a-month March through August. Candidates should contact Evolve/Elsevier to request a transcript of their score report to be sent to the Nursing Department.

How to Schedule a HESI A2 Test

The HESI A2 Entrance Exam is offered in two formats. Candidates can take the test in-person or virtually with Proctor U.

Appointments for the in-person HESI A2 Entrance exam are available online through Register Blast. After completing the online registration process and paying the appropriate testing fee, candidates will receive an email receipt and specific information 

Before scheduling an appointment, please review the nursing website for specific requirements and important deadlines. 

Dates and Locations

The computer-based format test is administered March through August in-person and virtual through Proctor U. Availability will vary. Please refer to the Testing Center scheduling system (Registerblast) for the most updated test schedule.

How to Schedule an In-Person Test

Step 1: Schedule Your Exam with the Testing Center

  • To schedule an appointment at the Testing Center on the Moore campus, please use the link below: registerblast.com/msccMoore/Exam/List
  • You must complete this step before purchasing your exam.

Step 2: Check Your Email & Set Up Your Evolve Account

  • After scheduling through RegisterBlast, you will automatically receive a confirmation email.
  • Open that email and click the link provided: https://evolve.elsevier.com/cs/
  • Follow the instructions in the email to create your Evolve account (or log in if you already have one) and purchase your HESI exam.

Step 3: Test Day

  • Arrive on time at the Moore Co./Tullahoma Motlow State Testing Center.
  • Bring a valid photo ID.
  • Have your Evolve username and password ready.
  • Come well-rested and prepared to do your best!

Fees

Candidates must pay the appropriate non-refundable fees ($5.00 Sitting Fee through Registerblast and $51.00 Exam Fee through Evolve) online to take the HESI Entrance Exam. The registration fee for the HESI entrance exam must be paid online with a debit or credit card at the time of registration.

Eligibility

Candidates are eligible to take the test once every 30 days. Candidates are responsible for scanning and e-mailing the best HESI A2 Entrance Exam summary to the nursingeducation@mscc.edu by the deadline.

Transcripts

Transcript requests submitted to Elsevier will require 7-10 business days for processing. An alternative option is requesting a copy of the HESI transcript from the Testing Center at Motlow by using the link below.

Please contact the nursing department for a complete list of requirements for the program. Scores are available for viewing after the test and valid for five years.

HESI Fundamental EXAM: LPN to RN Bridge Applicants

The entrance examination for the Motlow LPN to RN Bridge Program is the RN Fundamental Assessment (HESI). The exam covers basic nursing care knowledge. Candidates are required to score 900 on the Fundamental exam to be considered for the LPN to RN Bridge program. The entrance examination is offered from September through January.

HESI Fundamental Exam Preparation Information

The HESI Fundamental exam is basic nursing care knowledge. Health Education Systems does not publish a study guide for the exam. A study reference resource may be purchased at Follett Bookstore.
