How to Apply for Financial Aid

You can apply from the links on this page. Complete these steps as quickly as possible so your financial aid will be in place before classes begin.

  1. Apply for Admission at Motlow State
  2. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Use the Motlow State school code (006836). Use this code for all Motlow locations including online courses. Get instructions for filling out your FAFSA.
  3. Check your Motlow Student Email Account (in your Motlow Hub) for confirmation that Motlow has received your FAFSA. (Allow 3-5 business days.)
  4. Complete all Student Requirements for Financial Aid in your MyMotlow self-service account in a timely manner. Check MyMotlow often.

Complete this application and you will be considered for all Motlow State Institutional Scholarships.

Motlow College Foundation Scholarships

The Motlow College Foundation is pleased to offer a number of scholarship opportunities for Motlow State students.

Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarships

The state of Tennessee currently has many scholarship opportunities for Motlow State students including the Tennessee Reconnect, Tennessee Promise and Tennessee HOPE Scholarship. To determine eligibility, students must complete the FAFSA and all Student Requirements for Financial Aid in your MyMotlow self-service account.

Other Scholarships

There are thousands of scholarships offered nationwide by schools, employers, individuals, private companies, nonprofits, communities, religious groups, and professional and social organizations.

Loans

While your FAFSA may inform you that you’re eligible for a loan, we don’t participate in student loan programs. However, Motlow does offer a payment plan. This can help you manage the cost of tuition. 

Financial Aid Code of Conduct

The Financial Aid Office at Motlow State Community College is a member of NASFAA, the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators. We abide by NASFAA’s Code of Conduct for Institutional Financial Aid Professionals which states that:

An institutional financial aid professional is expected to always maintain exemplary standards of professional conduct in all aspects of carrying out his or her responsibilities, specifically including all dealings with any entities involved in any manner in student financial aid, regardless of whether such entities are involved in a government-sponsored, subsidized, or regulated activity. In doing so, a financial aid professional should:

  • Refrain from taking any action for his or her personal benefit.
  • Refrain from taking any action he or she believes is contrary to law, regulation, or the best interests of the students and parents he or she serves.
  • Ensure that the information he or she provides is accurate, unbiased, and does not reflect any preference arising from actual or potential personal gain.
  • Be objective in making decisions and advising their institution regarding relationships with any entity involved in any aspect of student financial aid.
  • Refrain from soliciting or accepting anything of other than nominal value from any entity (other than an institution of higher education or a governmental entity such as the U.S. Department of Education) involved in the making, holding, consolidating or processing of any student loans, including anything of value (including reimbursement of expensed) for serving on an advisory body or as part of a training activity of or sponsored by any such entity.
  • Disclose to his or her institution, in such manner as his or her institution may prescribe, any involvement with or interest in any entity involved in any aspect of student financial aid.
