Motlow State has two transfer agreements with ETSU. One is a dual admissions program
for any Motlow Associate of Arts (A.A.), Associate of Science (A.S.), or Associate
of Science in Teaching (A.S.T.). The other is a registered nurses (RN) pathway to
complete the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at ETSU.
Dual Admissions Program
Students complete an associate degree (A.A., A.S., or A.S.T.) at Motlow and transition to ETSU.
Eligibility Requirements
When enrolling at Motlow, students should complete an application for dual admission and an intent to enroll form.
Cumulative GPA of 2.0, or 2.75 for the A.S.T. degree.
Upon graduation, Motlow students will reaffirm the information on their original application.
Students who attend another institution between the time they graduate from Motlow and enroll at ETSU must reapply as a transfer student. Students must reapply to the dual admission program if there is a break of more than one year in their attendance at Motlow.
Students are limited to participate in only one dual admission program at a time.
Advantages to Students
- Guaranteed acceptance to ETSU upon completion of the A.A., A.S., or A.S.T. degree at Motlow.
- Save money by enrolling for first two years at Motlow.
- ETSU staff and academic advisors will facilitate transition process.
- Students will be able to register during the priority registration time period at ETSU the semester of graduation from Motlow upon completing ETSU orientation activities.

Admissions Criteria
- Graduate from Motlow’s nursing associate degree program
- Minimum GPA for admission purposes: 2.6. Minimum earned grade of “C” in each of Motlow’s required Natural Science courses and Math 1530 course
- Unencumbered RN licensure or eligibility of licensure in the state of TN or a compact state
Transfer of Nursing College Credits
All nursing courses, with a grade of “C” or higher earned, will be transferred from Motlow to ETSU as nursing electives.
The RN to BSN Academic Advisor at ETSU can help determine any general education courses needed for the degree. These courses can be taken online through ETSU while in the nursing program.
