ENTREPRENEURSHIP CONCENTRATION

Interested in starting your own business? Whether you’re interested in launching your first business venture, or an existing small business owner looking to grow your current business, the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Business with an Entrepreneurship concentration provides you with the skills needed to start, manage and increase profits. It is designed for students who do not intend to transfer to a university. The concentration involves many elements of business but provides specialized instruction in issues specific to entrepreneurship.

The A.A.S. in Entrepreneurship equips students with the skills needed to start and successfully run their own business. While open to all students, this A.A.S. is particularly designed to assist students who have received a certificate or diploma in a technical field such as those granted by a Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology.

Learn the fundamentals that will help you create sustainable success in your business. Coursework helps you develop an entrepreneurial mindset and understand entrepreneurial finance, small business management, marketing, supply chain, and legal issues for small business owners. The internet has greatly expanded the possibilities for small entrepreneurs, allowing businesses to establish niche audiences and clientele around the world.

NOTE: Students with mid-management work experience can use the course BUSN 2905 Mid-Management Specialty Work Experience to earn credit hours in place of BUSN courses. This experience will be evaluated by the Curriculum Chair of Business and Technology with six hours credit being awarded for each year in excess of three years’ work experience or apprenticeship, up to a maximum of twelve credit hours.

The concentration in entrepreneurship prepares you to open your own business. In addition, you will be well versed in the unique issues that are involved with owning a business and could work in a financial institution, not-for-profit, or an agency which specializes in assisting people to start their own business. Graduates will possess skills that add value to existing for-profit and not-for-profit organizations.

Since the Entrepreneurship concentration can help you establish any number of entrepreneurship and business opportunities, your career path is completely in your hands! Some exciting and tech-savvy options include social media manager, financial advisor, web developer, logistics management, realtor, app developer, lawn care, baker, startup founder, and more.

Digital Agronomy Concentration

This concentration is designed to develop agriculture professionals equipped to support the technology needs of today’s farmers. Digital agronomy uses technology, such as drones, sensors and other monitors, and the data they provide to make informed decisions and recommendations to farmers. Students will study conventional and regenerative agricultural practices, learn GIS mapping, precision agriculture, and the latest in crop management and irrigation practices.

Digital Agronomy TCAT students can transfer to Motlow. Motlow will recognize a student’s level of knowledge, either through industry-recognized certifications, prior learning assessments, or challenge exams.
