Motlow offers you a variety of international enrichment and learning opportunities. These range from campus cultural events, to virtual reality travel, to study abroad programs. Prepare yourself for a global future. Take advantage of the world of learning opportunities available at Motlow.

Motlow’s study abroad program operates in association with the Tennessee Consortium for International Studies (TnCIS).

International Study Requirements

  • You will need a valid passport to travel overseas. See here for Passport information. You can also get help through Motlow’s International Education office
  • If you do not have a passport, you must apply for one as soon as you are accepted to the program
  • Complete the TnCIS application
  • Pay a $100 application fee (non-refundable). Payments can be made at the Business Office on the Moore County campus, or at the front office on other campuses
  • Submit a scanned copy or phone photo copy of your application fee receipt to studyabroad@mscc.edu

  • February 1 of each year: TnCIS application/fee payment deadline
  • February 28 of each year: TnCIS program fee payment deadline

Funding Your Study Abroad

Scholarships

Motlow offers generous study abroad scholarships to qualified applicants, and bonus scholarships to students who take a course taught by a Motlow professor.

The International Education scholarship covers a percentage of your program costs, including:

  • tuition
  • housing
  • airfare
  • in-country ground transportation
  • excursions
  • two meals per day.

Program costs do not include:

  • application fee
  • textbooks
  • passport costs
  • ground transportation to and from the Nashville airport
  • personal spending money.

Scholarship Requirements

  • Complete 12 credit hours at Motlow by the start of the program
  • Be in good academic standing. Your minimum GPA is 2.0. (First Semester Freshmen: if your GPA is not a 2.0 after Fall semester, your award will be lost.)
  • Be a degree seeking student
  • Have no disciplinary record at Motlow
  • Students seeking a Motlow scholarship should contact studyabroad@mscc.edu immediately after submitting their TnCIS application

Talk to the Financial Aid Office

Contact the Financial Aid Office about funding your study abroad. It is critical that you stay in close communication with your financial aid counselor. Please do this throughout the entire study abroad process.

Gilman Grants

Find out more about international funding opportunities.

If you’re receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at Motlow, the Gilman grant can help you pay for a study abroad program. The grant ensures inclusiveness in study abroad.
