What is the Difference Between a Paramedic and EMT?

A paramedic is the highest level of EMT. Paramedics receive well over 1000 hours of training. In the field, paramedics can insert an IV, administer drugs and help with pacemakers. There are more EMT personnel than paramedics.

Pass the EMS Exams

After you finish Emergency Medical Training, you can take the State of Tennessee’s Practical Certification Examination. Next, you can take the written exam, administered by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
