Outreach planning depends on current market data, such as community profiles produced by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission. The Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC, pronounced by educators as tee-heck) produces a demographic profile for every county in the state. The profile includes data such as educational attainment rates, socioeconomic insights, and education market share metrics. In External Affairs, the information is used to inform campaign development and plan media buys.

THEC publishes all county profiles using unique web addresses for each county's data. Once a year, External Affairs collects all the data and compiles it into a single source that is easy to use as an ongoing reference. Because EA already tackles the task of compiling the document, we thought it would be worth sharing—in hopes that you, also, find it valuable to your planning and so that we avoid duplication of effort in compiling a single source tool. The document is a compilation of all the THEC -TSAC community profiles data for counties in Motlow’s service area. We call the document Motlow-THEC County Profiles.
