Thank you to Dr. Desiree Vannatta for leading Motlow's refresh of First Year Experience, which resulted in the newly launched Introduction to College Success (ICS). The updated curriculum fosters student success and retention. Learning objectives include ensuring each student's early engagement in the wealth of student support resources Motlow offers.
Enrollment is up again in Motlow's Emergency Management Services program (EMS). Congratulations to everyone on Director Houston Austin's EMS team! In 2018 Leadership challenged EMS to raise credit and non-credit enrollment to 300 by 2023. The final count for 2023 was 315! Last year's count was 407. Their new goal calls for reaching 500 EMS students by 2025 and they are off to a great start. Why is that important to you? The rising waters created by EMS growth are good for other programs, too.
Outreach planning depends on current market data, such as community profiles produced by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission. If you've not seen or used this data, you may find it a helpful tool for your next project. If you search for it each year, we hope you love finding it all in one place now!
On behalf of Jenna Caviezel, Director of Tutoring--and now also Director of HONORS, allow Momentum to share with you that this is the 49th anniversary of Honors classes at Motlow. That means that 2025-2026 will be the 50th anniversary, and celebration planning for that important milestone is already percolating. Expect some big celebrations next year as we officially reach the half-century mark!
Regular Dear Colleagues messages resume this week, coming to an inbox near you in a reinvented format called Momentum. In the past, EA regularly sent all employees a Dear Colleges email with brief updates on what's happening at Motlow. We try to organize these dispatches with a quick snackable bite of insight that links to more details and lots of visuals--for those who want more insight.
