Hospitality Management Careers
April 17, 2025
Motlow State’s upcoming Hospitality Management Program will offer a well-rounded approach to prepare students for a variety of fields under the umbrella of hospitality. Area of emphasis classes in the program combine business management techniques with marketing skills, kitchen etiquette, food science, and service fundamentals. Regardless of which sector of hospitality students choose, they will be well-equipped through hands-on learning experiences, hearing from local experts, learning about real case studies, and obtaining valuable certifications.
Hospitality Management can be the first step toward working in Tennessee’s rich music scene, lively amusement parks, historic landmarks, fascinating museums, or top-tier sporting events. By learning how to work with a team and how to present a location, students can meet locals who share their passions and connect with tourists by helping them to enjoy all that Tennessee has to offer.
Students who exhibit qualities of Tennessee’s famous southern hospitality can use the culinary skills in this program to work as master chefs, restaurant managers, or pastry chefs in one of the state’s many impressive restaurants. This route allows students to incorporate their creativity into their careers and to experiment with new possibilities.
On a local scale, a Hospitality Management degree gives students the option to work in local hotels and distilleries. This is a great way for students within Motlow’s service area to remain close to home while also engaging with visitors and introducing them to Tennessee’s hidden treasures.
Hospitality Management is a two-year Associate of Applied Science degree with two areas of emphasis: Hotel Management and Culinary Arts. This degree is terminal, meaning that graduates can immediately enter the workforce without additional education. To learn more about the program, contact jbabb@mscc.edu.
