EV Chargers Donated to McMinnville

March 26, 2025

Tennessee Tech University recently assisted Motlow State in obtaining two electric vehicle charging pedestals for the Automation and Robotics Training Center (ARTC) in McMinnville. This donation proceeds the beginning of the upcoming Electric Vehicle Engineering Technology (EVET) Program that is slated to begin in the ARTC in the fall of 2025. This support enables the ARTC to not only service electric vehicles but also help electric vehicle owners in the Warren County community.

Motlow State applied for the Rural Reimagined Project Grant to receive the funds necessary for the charging stations. Rural Reimagined is an organization with the goal to supply charging stations throughout central Appalachia as the demand for clean energy rises in Tennessee, West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, and Virginia.

The EVET Program begins in fall 2025 and is under the leadership of instructor Richard Blackburn. Students will learn how to service both electric vehicles and their charging stations to prepare them for the world of automotive technology as it evolves.

These charging stations allow the College to contribute to Warren County and their expanding needs for innovative technology until students can finish their training and meet workforce needs.

The College’s business office is currently in the process of setting up the charging stations so that they can accept payment, and the stations are located in front of the ARTC building at 225 Vo-Tech Drive so that they can be easily accessed by the public. Each charging pedestal can service two cars at a time.
