Faculty Excellence Winners Announced

October 22, 2024

At the beginning of the fall 2024 semester, Motlow State recognized the Faculty Excellence Award nominees and announced the winners. Jenna Caviezel, Associate Professor of English at Smyrna and the Director of the Tutoring Center and Honors Program, received the Faculty Excellence Award for full-time faculty. Lisa Maurer, Music adjunct at the Moore County campus, received the Adjunct Faculty Excellence Award.

To be nominated for this award, all nominees had to exhibit exemplary work inside and outside the classroom that benefits both the College and the community. Motlow commends all nominees and thanks them for their many years of service. The funding for this recognition program is made possible by contributions from the Motlow College Foundation.

In her more than a decade of service to the College, Caviezel has helped with the growth and development of various student services. She is currently working to grow and develop the Honors Program at all Motlow locations. The Smyrna and Moore County sites both have new Honors lounges, which are spaces set aside specifically for Honors students so that they have a space to enjoy in between classes. Under her leadership, the Tutoring Centers on all campuses have grown and now include online tutoring options so that students can seek assistance in nearly every subject. She restored the Creative Writing Course to the Languages Department, and she has taught both Honors and standard classes in Literature and English on the Smyrna campus. The community is invited to see Maurer and the other music faculty at Motlow perform on October 29 at the Music at Motlow: Faculty Halloween Concert event. The performance begins at 7 pm with a reception at 6 pm. The event is free to the public and will be held in the Eoff Hall auditorium of the Moore County campus. Seats can be reserved by contacting aparrish@mscc.edu or 931-393-1709.

The College thanks all the finalists for their dedication to education. Please look for announcements about current events on our social media or website.
