(A.A., A.S., A.F.A.) Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Fine Arts: At Motlow State Community College, a student planning to transfer to a baccalaureate program may earn an Associate of Arts Degree, an Associate of Fine Arts Degree, or an Associate of Science Degree. The University Parallel Major in the associate degree program is the transfer program within which a student selects an area of emphasis. The General Studies area of emphasis allows students to complete general education requirements before moving into specialized study.
(A.S.T.) Associate of Science in Teaching: The A.S.T. allows students to complete professional teacher licensing standards at the community college level, laying the groundwork for becoming fully certified elementary teachers. The Associate of Science in Teaching degree is transferable to Teacher Preparation programs at a four-year college or university that awards state licensure and certification for teachers.
(T.T.P) Tennessee Transfer Pathway: Tennessee Transfer Pathways are advising tools designed to help community college students plan for transferring to a Tennessee public university to complete their baccalaureate degree. The Tennessee Transfer Pathways also constitute an agreement between community colleges and universities confirming that community college courses meet major preparation requirements. A student who completes all the courses listed on a particular Transfer Pathway will earn an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree at Motlow State. When the student transfers to a Tennessee public university, the transcript will certify that the pathway has been followed. The student is guaranteed that all the community college courses taken will be accepted at the university, and the courses will count toward completing the particular major. If a community college student transfers to another Tennessee community college, they are guaranteed that all courses transfer.
(A.A.S.) Associate of Applied Science: Associate of Applied Science degrees are designed to prepare students for immediate employment in a specialized area or to grow within their careers. These degrees are designed for students not intending to transfer to a traditional baccalaureate degree program.
Technical Certificate: Technical Certificates of Credit are designed to prepare students for immediate employment in a specialized area or to grow within their careers. They are designed for students not intending to transfer to a traditional baccalaureate degree program. Programs leading to Technical Certificates of Credit are offered in response to the training needs of area businesses and industries. Since the credential denotes proficiency in a particular occupation, program standards are determined in consultation with an advisory board of practicing professionals.

Please contact the appropriate licensing body in the state where you intend to seek licensure to determine licensure requirements in that state.
