Responsible Executive: Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs

I. PURPOSE

The Faculty and Staff Development Committee of Motlow State Community College (Motlow State) exists to assess needs, support professional development opportunities, and ensure access to resources that enhance employee effectiveness and advance the institution’s mission.

II. DUTIES

The duties of the Committee are to: 

  1. Participate in the formation, dissemination, and implementation of the annual faculty and staff professional development budget. 
  2. Make other appropriate professional development recommendations to the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs (EVPAA). 
  3. Review and evaluate funding requests, applications for employee conference travel, professional certificates, and other professional development. 
  4. Make funding recommendations or approval decisions in accordance with available resources and established guidelines. 
  5. Monitor distribution of funds to ensure access across departments and employee groups. 
  6. Regularly assess and improve the application process based on feedback, participation rates, and results. 

III. MEMBERSHIP

This Committee is composed of the following members: 

  1. EVPAA (Chair) (Ex-officio, non-voting); 
  2. Department Leads; 
  3. One (1) faculty member from each campus selected by the Faculty Council for a two-year term; 
  4. Two (2) administrative employees selected by Administrative Council for a two-year term; and 
  5. Two (2) classified employees selected by Support Staff Council for a two-year term.
